COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Buckeyes shot 288 (+4) Saturday in the second round of the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships and are tied for the No. 5 spot (289-288=577/+9) in the 14-team tournament at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh.
Faith Choi matched her opening round 71 Saturday to lead the Buckeyes and remain in the Top 10 in the individual standings (71-71=142/E). She is tied for the No. 8 spot heading into the final round Sunday.
Aneka Seumanutafa and Alexis Phadungmartvorakul both shot 1-over 72s in round two. Seumanutafa (74-72=146) is now tied with Lauren Peter (72-74=146) for the No. 22 spot individually.
Michigan leads the championship at 3-under (285-281=566). The Wolverines’ Monet Chun is the individual leader at 6-under (70-66-136)
The Buckeyes lead the tournament after two rounds with 122 pars. Choi and Lauren Peter are second overall with 27 pars each.
Ohio State is chasing its 19th conference title at the 40th Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships.
The Buckeyes won three team titles (1979-80-81) before the Big Ten began officially recognizing championships in 1982. Since 1983, Ohio State has claimed the conference title 15 times (1983-84-85-88-93-97-99-2002-03-04-05-14(co)-15(co)-16(co)-19).
Ohio State individuals have earned medalist honor 15 times. Niki Schroeder (c0) was the last to do so in 2019.
