
No. 4 Buckeyes Defeat Nebraska, 4-3

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4-ranked Ohio State women's tennis is now 3-0 in the Big Ten after a 4-3 win at Nebraska Sunday afternoon. The Buckeyes won the doubles point and three of the first four completed singles matches to record the conference win. Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen both won in singles and doubles, Irina Cantos Siemers posted a singles win and Kathleen Jones and Lucia Marzal recorded doubles wins.
Ohio State, which improved to 10-4 overall, will next play at Arizona State next Sunday (March 27). Ohio State will then return to Columbus and Big Ten play when it hosts Michigan April 1 and Michigan State April 3.
In Doubles
- Ohio State took two doubles matches and was leading in the third when the point was clinched.
- Kathleen Jones and Isabelle Boulais won 6-3 against Chloe Kuckelman and Isabel A. Gallego, on court two.
- On court three, Kolie Allen and Lucia Marzal were 6-2 victors against Ellie Kuckelman and Samantha Alicea, winning the final four games, to clinch the doubles point.
- The No. 15-ranked tandem of Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff was leading Kristina Novak and Maja Makoric, 5-3, after being down 0-3, when play was suspended.
In Singles
- Ohio State won in straight sets on the top two courts for a 3-0 lead.
- On court two, No. 6-ranked Cantos Siemers topped Gallego, 6-1, 6-3, and on court one, No. 19-ranked Boulais was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Novak. Cantos Siemers is 10-3 in dual matches this spring, with Boulais 10-3.
- Nebraska's Vivien Sandberg defeated Madeline Atway on court six, 6-1, 7-5, to put the Huskers on the board.
- Allen responded for the Buckeyes, winning in three sets on court four against Kuckelman. The Buckeye won the first set, 6-1, but dropped the second, 6-3, before taking the third, 6-2, to clinch the team win. Allen is 9-4 in dual play and she, Cantos Siemers and Boulais are all 3-0 in Big Ten singles matches.
- Nebraska won the final two matches in super tiebreakers for the 4-3 final, coming from behind on courts three and five.
