No. 4 Buckeyes Ready for B1G Road Matches

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 Ohio State women’s tennis is headed west for two Big Ten matches this weekend. The squad will face Iowa at 6 p.m. ET Friday and Nebraska at noon ET Sunday.

Ohio State vs. Iowa
- Ohio State and Iowa met twice last season. The Buckeyes prevailed in a road match, 5-2, March 7, 2021 and then topped the Hawkeyes in a Big Ten Tournament semifinal matchup, 4-2, May 1, 2021 in Madison, Wis.
- The Buckeyes are 26-23 all-time vs. Iowa, with wins in the last eight matchups.
- Iowa is 4-7 this season and last played March 11, with a 5-2 loss at home vs. Memphis. The squad fell to Minnesota, 6-1, to open Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes’ Alexa Noel is ranked third nationally in singles.
- Iowa will host the Big Ten Tournament April 27-May 1.
Ohio State vs. Nebraska
- The Buckeyes are 9-7 all-time vs. Nebraska, with a 7-3 mark since the Huskers joined the Big Ten.
- This will be the third straight meeting in Lincoln; Ohio State won 5-2 March 5, 2021 and by the same score March 22, 2019.
- The Huskers, ranked 55th this week, are 7-5 on the year and will host Penn State Friday before the match vs. the Buckeyes Sunday. Nebraska started Big Ten play with a 6-1 win at home vs. Minnesota.

- Ohio State was No. 4 in the ITA team rankings for the fourth week in a row (since computer rankings started). It was the highest ranking since the squad was No. 2 March 3, 2020.
- In the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25 this week, Ohio State was No. 4.
- Seven of the 12 teams the Buckeyes have faced so far this season were ranked in the ITA Top 16 this week (six in the Top 10) – No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 North Carolina State, No. 5 Duke, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Pepperdine, No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Georgia and No. 16 Florida. The Buckeyes’ other opponents have been No. 27 Tennessee. No. 52 Kentucky and No. 70 Penn State and Xavier.
- Three Buckeyes and a doubles team were in the ITA rankings released last week, with all reaching career highs. Junior Irina Cantos Siemers was fourth, while senior Isabelle Boulais was No. 19 and freshman Sydni Ratliff was No. 43 The duo of Cantos Siemers and Ratliff moved up to No. 15. Boulais is the fifth Buckeye to be ranked in the Top 20 in program history.
Buckeye This and That
- The Buckeyes had a six-match winning streak end with a 7-0 loss at No. 15 Georgia Wednesday.
- Ohio State is 2-3 in true road matches this season, with 4-3 losses at Duke and North Carolina State, a 5-2 win at Kentucky, a 7-0 victory over Penn State and the loss at Georgia. The squad is 2-1 in neutral site matches.
- Isabelle Boulais, Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff lead the Buckeyes with eight singles wins in dual play, with Kolie Allen posting seven.
- Overall this season, Cantos Siemers is first with 23 singles victories. Ratliff is second with 18, followed by Lucia Marzal with 15 and Madeline Atway with 13.
- In doubles dual matches, Ratliff has a team-high seven wins, Cantos Siemers is second with six and Boulais is third with five.
- In singles, Ohio State has compiled an 8-3 record on court one to lead the team, with 8-4 marks on courts two and three, a 7-3 ledger on court six and a 7-4 mark on court four, going 4-5 on court five. In doubles, court three is 6-6, with court two 5-5 and court one 5-6.

- Ohio State wraps up a stretch of four-straight road matches at Arizona State March 27.
- Seven Big Ten matches are on the docket for April, including five in Columbus, starting vs. Michigan April 1 and Michigan State April 3.
