
No. 12/13 Buckeyes Set for Matchup vs. No. 20 Notre Dame

The Basics
- The No. 12/13-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team returns to Columbus for a two-game series vs. No. 20 Notre Dame this weekend.
- The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday in Value City Arena in Columbus.
- Both contests will be streamed through Big Ten Plus. Ohio State Radio will carry the action and live stats will be available.
- Friday, Script Ohio on Ice will be performed during first intermission. Saturday, there will be a free skate for fans postgame (must bring own skates – register and info HERE).
- Both nights are Military Appreciation games. Current members of the military and veterans can receive two tickets to each game by visiting VetTix online or at the box office on game day.

- The Buckeyes enter the series 7-4-1 overall and 3-3-0-0-0-0 in the Big Ten. The Irish are 5-5-2 and 2-3-1-1-0-0 in the B1G.
Buckeye Notes to Know
- The series this weekend is the last two-game matchup at home for the Buckeyes in 2022. The final game in Columbus this calendar year is Dec. 17 vs. Bowling Green.
- Ohio State and Notre Dame split two series last season, meeting Dec. 3-4 and Jan. 14-15.
- Jake Wise enters the series with Notre Dame on a seven-game point streak (3g, 6a, 7p).
- This season, 21 Buckeyes (including each skater with more than three games played) have posted at least one point. Fifteen have scored a goal, with 19 notching at least one assist. Jake Wise is first with 12 points, followed by Stephen Halliday with 11 and Travis Treloar with 10. Kamil Sadlocha, Davis Burnside, Wise and Treloar each have a team-best five goals and Halliday and Mason Lohrei are tied for first with eight assists. Burnside is one of seven players in the NCAA with two shorthanded goals. Travis Treloar is tied for fourth in the nation with four power play goals.
A Look Ahead
- The Buckeyes will take a Thanksgiving weekend trip to LIU, facing off against the Sharks at 7:45 Nov. 25 and 8 p.m. Nov. 26.
- Ohio State will play a Big Ten series at Penn State Dec. 2-3 before closing the first half with a home-and-home series with Bowling Green Dec. 16-17.

Buckeyes vs. Fighting Irish
- All-time, Notre Dame leads the series with Ohio State, 44-43-11 (according to the Buckeye record book), with the first game Feb. 13, 1965.
- In Columbus, Ohio State leads, 22-20-7. Notre Dame is ahead in Big Ten regular season games, 11-8-1.
- The teams split series in Columbus and South Bend last season. On Irish home ice Dec. 3-4, Ohio State took game one, 4-3, before a 5-1 Irish victory. In Columbus Jan. 14-15, Notre Dame won in overtime in the opener, 3-2, before a 4-1 Ohio State victory.
- Ohio State and Notre Dame skated as members of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association until 2012-13 when the league was disbanded. Ohio State was a founding member of the conference in 1971-72 and played for two years before leaving for three seasons (1973-74, `74-75, `75-76) and skating as an independent. Ohio State then rejoined the CCHA for the 1975-1976 campaign and remained until 2013. The Irish were in the league in 1981-82 and `82-83 and then rejoined in 1992-93. The Buckeyes and Irish last met as CCHA foes March 23, 2013 in the CCHA Tournament semifinals, a 3-1 ND win at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
- Gustaf Westlund leads the current Buckeyes with 15 games played vs. Notre Dame and he and Kamil Sadlocha (11 games played) share the lead with three goals each vs. ND. Cole McWard, in four games last year, posted four assists to pace the current Buckeyes.
- Notre Dame is 5-5-2 overall this season and 2-3-1-1-0-0 in Big Ten play. In conference play the Irish were 1-0-1 at home vs. Michigan State, swept at Minnesota and last weekend split with Michigan in South Bend, falling 5-1 and winning in overtime, 3-2.

- Ohio State started the year No. 16 in the DCU/USCHO.com preseason poll and was No. 18 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason rankings.
- This week, the Buckeyes moved down two spots in both the DCU/USCHO rankings and in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, to No. 12 and 13, respectively.
- The Buckeyes have been ranked as high as ninth this season.
- Ohio State is one of six Big Ten teams in the USCHO Top 20, joining No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 Penn State, No. 17 Michigan State and No. 20 Notre Dame.
Stats Stuff
- The Buckeyes are scoring 3.42 goals a game and allowing 2.67 an outing.
- Stephen Halliday and Mason Lohrei are first with eight assists each and four Buckeyes – Jake Wise, Travis Treloar, Davis Burnside and Kamil Sadlocha – have a team-best five goals.
- Three Buckeyes have double-digit points, led by Wise with 12. Halliday has 11 and Treloar has 10.
- Jakub Dobeš started the first 12 games in net and has a 2.48 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. Ryan Snowden and Reilly Herbst have both made appearances.

- Jake Wise leads the Buckeyes with at least one point in nine of 12 games this season (including in the last seven straight). Mason Lohrei has a point in eight games (including in five of the last six) and Stephen Halliday and Travis Treloar have each gotten on the scoresheet in seven outings.
- Wise is fourth in the NCAA with 151 faceoff wins this season.
- Ohio State has outshot its opponent in 10 of 12 games this season (game two vs. UConn, game two vs. Minnesota). The Buckeyes are averaging 36.58 shots on goal per game to rank second in the NCAA in shots per game. The squad has allowed 28.08 per night.
- In home games this season, the Buckeyes are 5-1, with the loss in game two vs. Minnesota Oct. 29. The squad opened the year with five straight home wins, with sweeps against Bentley and Wisconsin and a victory over Minnesota.
- The Buckeyes are 4-1-1 in series openers this season, with the loss at Michigan State last week, and 3-3-0 in game two.
- Jakub Dobeš made 20 saves in game one at UConn for his fourth career shutout, one back of tying for sixth in program history. The game was a 0-0 tie, the second in Ohio State history and first since current volunteer assistant coach Dusty Carlson was between the pipes against Miami Feb. 27, 2010.
- The three Buckeye freshmen who have played this season have each posted their first collegiate goal. Tyler Duke joined the group last Thursday at Michigan State. Stephen Halliday scored his first collegiate goal in the opener vs. Wisconsin Oct. 7. Davis Burnside notched the Buckeyes’ first goal of the season, and his first collegiate tally, at Mercyhurst Oct. 1. The trio has combined for 20 points this year, with nine goals and 11 assists.
- According to College Hockey Inc., Duke is the fifth-youngest player in Division I men’s hockey this season.
