COLUMBUS, Ohio – This week’s “Buckeye Spotlight” recognizes seven student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score this past week, and some bonus coverage as well: SASSO’s October athletes of the month:

This Week’s Spotlights:
Jenna Buglioni | Women’s Hockey | Jr. | Port Moody, B.C.
- Jenna Buglioni tallied two goals in Ohio State’s 3-2 overtime win over Minnesota Duluth last Friday in the 2022 national championship game rematch.
- With just over a minute to play in overtime, she recovered the puck at center ice and found herself in a one-on-one situation with the Bulldogs’ goaltender.
- Buglioni scored with 59 seconds left on the clock, giving Ohio State its seventh straight win of the year and its best start to a season in team history.
- She also recorded the first goal of the game, scoring on the power play 1:29 into the second period, to give Ohio State a 1-0 lead over UMD.
Tanner Creech | Men’s Soccer | Fr. | Cincinnati, Ohio
- Creech cored in the second half vs. Penn State to even the match at 1-all in State College last Friday.
- The goal was his first career score as a Buckeye.
- He became one of four freshmen to score a goal this season.
- He was the only freshman starter in the lineup vs. the Nittany Lions.
- He has made 10 starts in 12 appearances this season.
Emma Goldean | Field Hockey | Sr. | Charlotte, N.C.
- In Friday’s 2-1 win at Indiana, Goldean broke the program record for career games played with 86.
- She topped the previous record, held by Jenn Sciulli, who played in 85 games between 2008-11.
- Goldean is also closing in on the program record for games started. That mark is also held by Sciulli (85). Goldean has started 84 career games heading into games this weekend vs. Michigan and Ball State.
- With Goldean’s help, Ohio State went 2-0 last weekend and has won seven of their last eight games.
- The Buckeyes have qualified for the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament, which will take place Nov. 3-6 at Buckeye Varsity Field.
Gabby Gonzales | Women’s Volleyball | Sr. | Marietta, Ga.
- Senior outside Gabby Gonzales led a balanced Buckeyes attack to wins against Illinois and Iowa last week, averaging 3.29 kills per set (.316 hit%), 3.43 digs per set (most among non-liberos) and four service aces.
- Against Illinois, Gonzales had her second-most aces of the season (4), also recording eight kills, seven digs, two blocks and two assists.
- Gonzales earned her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 15 kills and a season-high 17 digs without committing a reception error.
- This season, Gonzales is averaging 3.31 kills/set, 2.32 digs/set and 0.46 aces/set (leads the conference).
Caley McGinty | Women’s Golf | R-Jr. | Bristol, England
- McGinty helped the Buckeyes to a T-7th place finish at the Jim West Challenge this week to close out the fall season.
- She led the Buckeyes, finishing tied for 17th place.
- McGinty, the 21st ranked amateur women’s golfer in the world (WAGR), shot under par in two out of three rounds.
- McGinty fired a 71 (-1) in the first round and a 70 (-2) in round three. She shot 74 (+2) in the second round, finishing the tournament with a total score of 215 (-1).
Kamil Sadlocha | Men’s Hockey | Senior | Carpentersville, Ill.
- Kamil Sadlocha led the Buckeyes to a sweep of Bentley with a team-best five points, with three goals and two assists and a +4 mark in the series.
- In game one he had a career-high four points with two goals and two assists, his second two-goal game as a Buckeye and his first career two-assist game.
- In game two, he helped seal the win, putting Ohio State up by two with less than three minutes left in the game.
- Sadlocha, on a three-game goal-scoring streak, leads the Buckeyes with five goals and is tied for second with eight points.
Sydni Ratliff | Women’s Tennis | Sophomore | Columbus, Ohio
- Sydni Ratliff finished as the singles runner-up at the ITA Midwest Regional, falling in a third-set tiebreaker in the final Tuesday.
- The sophomore, a No. 3-4 seed in the tournament and ranked 51st nationally, won four matches, three in straight sets, to reach the final.
- Ratliff and Irina Cantos Siemers, who captured the program’s second regional title last season, reached the quarterfinals at this year’s event.
