COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. ‘Buckeye Spotlight’ recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

Abby Danson | Field Hockey | Jr. | Clifton Park, N.Y.
- Danson helped the Ohio State field hockey team to a split against a pair of top-five ranked opponents last weekend.
- Against No. 5 Iowa, Danson made seven saves and registered her fifth shutout of the season.
- She had help, too. Graduate student Grace Kim made a defensive save with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter that was the No. 9 play on SportsCenter’s Top 10.
- Less than 48 hours later against No. 3 Northwestern, Danson made five saves in a 2-1 overtime loss.
- Danson is currently No. 2 nationally in save percentage (.831) and seventh in goals-against average (0.95)
Sarah White | Women’s Volleyball | So. | Cranberry Township, Pa.
- Made her collegiate debut in the sweep against Rutgers after red-shirting last season.
- Recorded an assist in the first point she played.
- Added 12 more assists and a dig in the final set against the Scarlet Knights.
Maria Tsarik | Pistol | Jr. | Lake Bluff, Ill.
- Tsarik won two of three events and had the highest overall aggregate score as the Buckeyes defeated Navy this past weekend.
- She took first place in the sport pistol (577) and standard pistol (559)
- Tsarik’s overall score of 1683 was the highest of all competitors.
Owen Sullivan | Men’s Soccer | R-Jr. | Dublin, Ohio
- The defender helped the Buckeyes to a 2-0 week with wins at Michigan (3-1) and vs. Northwestern (2-1)
- Opponents were held to a .069 shot percentage with two goals on 29 total shots last week
- Helped Buckeyes remain undefeated at home, 6-0-2, with win over Northwestern
- Buckeyes have allowed Big Ten fewest 12 goals on the year
- Opponents are connecting on just .094 of their shots (12 goals/127 shots)
Nathaniel Tamminga | Men’s Cross Country | Graduate | Bellflower, Calif.
- Nathaniel Tamminga placed 11th at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational in a time of 24:06.1 for the 6K, leading the Buckeye men to a second-place finish in the event.
- In his first year running cross country as a Buckeye, it was a personal Ohio State best.
- He has been the Buckeyes’ top finisher each of the last three races.
Madeline Atway | Women’s Tennis | Junior | Powell, Ohio
- At the Buckeye Invitational in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center over the weekend, Madeline Atway led the Buckeyes with five combined singles/doubles wins.
- She and Danielle Willson were 3-0 in doubles, defeating teams from Penn State, Michigan and Xavier.
- Atway was 2-1 in singles, with wins vs. Penn Sate and Xavier. She wrapped up the tournament with a come-from-behind three-set victory vs. the Musketeers.
