COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 seed Ohio State won its quarterfinal match in the 2022 Big Ten Match Play event in Palm Harbor, Florida, Monday over No. 7 Minnesota (5-1) to advance to the semifinals, where the No. 2 seed Buckeyes fell to No. 3 Northwestern (3-2-1).
The second round was halted because of darkness with about four holes to play. Teams leading when play was halted advanced.
The Buckeyes will face No. 5 Wisconsin Tuesday.
Against the Golden Gophers, the Buckeyes got 1up wins from Aneka Seumanutafa and Alexis Phadungmartvorakul, along with victories by Jillian Bourdage (4&3), Lauren Peter (3&2) and Faith Choi (2&1).
Lisa Strom, first year head coach of the Buckeyes, shuffled the lineup against the Wildcats.
Bourdage and Seumanutafa were both leading their matches against Northwestern when play was called. Both went 2-0 on the day. Peter was tied in her match.
The event is being played at the Island Course at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Florida.
