COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman Kailyn Dudukovich headed home a pass from graduate Emaly Vatne in the 89^th minute to lift the Buckeyes to a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon in College Park.

The win improves the Buckeyes to 6-3-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in Big Ten play while Maryland falls to 4-3-2 and 0-1-0.

Sophomore Christin Baumbick scored her first collegiate goal in the 42^nd minute to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead at the break. Maryland tied the match in the 62^nd minute and it looked like the Buckeyes would be playing their first overtime match of the season. But Dudukovich tallied her third goal of the season, and the Buckeyes had a road win in the Big Ten opener.

How it Happened

The Buckeyes played well in the opening half and deserved a goal. That goal ended up coming in the 42^nd minute as Kayla Fischer pushed to the endline, crossed in front of the net and the clear attempt found the foot of sophomore Christin Baumbick who buried a right-footed shot to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead.

Maryland responded in the second half as Kori Locksley flicked home a cross in the 62^nd minute to tie the match at 1-1.

Neither team was able to generate much for the next 20+ minutes and the match seemed destined for overtime. But Kine Flotre took a ball at midfield, played a little give-and-go with Emaly Vatne on the right wing and then Vatne crossed in the box and Kailyn Dudukovich headed the ball into the back of the net for the game-winner.
