
Buckeyes Wrap Up Home Schedule This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The final two home games of Ohio State’s 2021 spring Big Ten-only schedule are slated for this weekend as the Buckeyes welcome in Michigan State for a pair of games.

Briefly on the Buckeyes
- Ohio State is coming off two of its best performances of the season last weekend is a pair of shutout win over Indiana.
- The Buckeyes won the first game on Friday, 5-0, and then followed that up with a 6-0 victory on Sunday.
- Mackenzie Allessie was the offensive star of the weekend, scoring six goals and adding one assist for 13 points. She had hat tricks in both games.
- Freshman goalie Abby Danson registered the first two shutouts of her career. The defense in front of her did not allow a shot on Friday.
- Ten different players have multiple points this season for the Scarlet and Gray.
- After Allessie, senior Nikki Trzaska and junior Emma Goldean are second with seven points. Golden has a team-high five assists.
- Trzaska and Sammy Stone, both seniors, have two goals.
- Over the last four games, Ohio State is averaging 4.00 goals per game and have outshot opponents (Northwestern and Indiana) 65-31.
- The Buckeyes also have a 28-9 edge in penalty corners in the last four games.
Honors for Allessie
- Following her 13-point weekend vs. Indiana, Mackenzie Allessie was the recipient of two weekly honors.
- On Monday, she was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. And on Wednesday, she garnered National Player of the Week honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
- Allessie leads in the Big Ten in total goals scored (nine) and goals per game (1.125).
History vs. Michigan State
- This weekend will be the 69th and 70th all-time meetings between Ohio State and Michigan State.
- The Buckeyes lead the series 40-25-3.
- Over the last five meetings, Ohio State is 3-2 with consecutive wins in 2018 (6-1) and 2019 (3-0).
- The last time the two teams played in Columbus was October 19, 2018.
An Update on Attendance
- Most Ohio State sports competing this spring won’t see a significant increase in attendance and most won’t have opportunities for general fan attendance under the attendance policies athletics has developed and formalized with Columbus Public Health.
- There will not be any general public ticket availability for the sports of baseball, softball, field hockey and men’s and women’s tennis.
- There are too few tickets available for those sports after tickets are allocated to family members of the student-athletes and coaching staffs of the competing teams.
