Buckeyes Set for Weekend Dual Matches on the Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State fencing program has two days of competition this weekend.
Saturday, Ohio State will compete in the DeCicco Duals hosted by Notre Dame. At the meet, the Buckeyes will face Notre Dame at noon and 3 p.m. and Lawrence (men)/Northwestern (women) at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Sunday, the Buckeye women will take on Lawrence at Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. Competition begins at noon ET.
The Buckeyes This Season
- The Buckeyes started the year with the Ohio State Invitational in French Field House Feb. 5-6. The men’s squad was 6-1, with the women 7-2 over the two days.
- For the women, Montserrat Viveros leads the epee squad with 20 wins, Camilla Rivano is first for foil with 19 and Julieta Toledo paces the sabre squad with 22 victories.
- On the men’s side, Henry Lange is first with 15 wins in epee, Diego Cervantes has 17 victories to lead the foil squad and Nolan Williams is first with 13 sabre wins.
- Ohio State’s roster includes nine fencers who qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships – Bence Bende (epee), Cervantes (foil), Lange (epee), Rivano (foil), Roscoe Swartz (sabre), Toledo (sabre), Alexanne Verret (epee), Viveros (epee) and Nathan Wriedt (foil).
