Buckeyes Continue to Roll, Blank Purdue 7-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continued it’s run, winning its sixth match in a row, downing Purdue 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The Buckeyes (7-1, 4-0) opened the match as they do so often, rolling to doubles wins. John McNally and Robert Cash scored a 6-2 win on court one and Cannon Kingsley and JJ Mercer followed closely with a 6-3 win. James Trotter and Justin Boulais were almost there, leading 5-3.
In singles, Kingsley continued his perfect start to the season as he won the first eight games and went on to beat Sebastian Welch 6-0, 6-3. Cash wasn’t far behind as he beat Andre Suzanne by the same score to push the lead to 3-0.
McNally provided the clinching point with his 6-2, 6-3 win on court one over Mateo Julio. Playing out the remaining matches, Boulais pushed the lead to 5-0 as he beat Milledge Cossu 6-3, 6-3. JJ Tracy claimed his 10th victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Thomas Dudek.
In the final match, Kyle Seelig dropped the opening set 6-3 but rebounded to win the second 6-2. In the super-breaker, Seelig won five points in a row to give him a cushion and he went on to win 10-6.
The Buckeyes will close the week on Sunday against Indiana. First serve is set for Noon.
