JOHN’S ISLAND, S.C. – In one of the largest fields of the season, Ohio State battled over the final two rounds to finish fourth as a team at the Briar’s Creek Invitational. The Buckeyes were led to the finish by Aneka Seumanutafa who posted her second runner-up finish of the season.
The Buckeyes carded a final round of 5-under 283 to finish fourth in the 18-team field. Through the first nine holes on Monday morning, Ohio State was in 16th place. The Buckeyes came back and, for the week, bested six teams inside the Top 50 and only lost to No. 14 Maryland, No. 18 Miami and host College of Charleston.
Individually, Seumanutafa continued her torrid start to the season. The Maryland native opened with a tough round of 75 in the wind on Monday morning but played the final 36 holes in 7-under par. She not only claimed her second runner-up finish of the year, but she also notched her fourth Top 5 finish in as many events.
Lauren Peter and Kailie Vongsaga each posted final rounds of 2-under 70. Peter finished in a tie for 25th at 8-over while Vongsaga rebounded from a pair of 79s and finished in 46th at 12-over.
Kristin Jamieson closed with a final round of 75 and Skylar Thompson posted an 81.
The Buckeyes return to action at the end of the month at the Clemson Invitational. The 54-hole event will from March 26-28.
