Buckeyes Fall at No. 13 Michigan 4-3

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ohio State dropped a tough 4-3 decision at No. 13 Michigan on Sunday afternoon in Ann Arbor.
The loss was the second of the year for the Buckeyes who are now 9-2 on the season and 6-1 in Big Ten play. Michigan remains unbeaten in Big Ten action at 6-0. The two teams will meet again on the final day of the regular season in Columbus on April 18.
The Buckeyes lost the doubles point for the second time this season. John McNally and Robert Cash lost 6-4 on court one to Andrew Fenty and Matias Siimar. Justin Boulais and JJ Tracy won by the same score on court three leaving the point up the match on court two. Cannon Kingsley and Kyle Seelig were down 4-1 to start the match but came back to even the score at 4-4. After a hold, Ondrej Styler and Connor Johnston won a deuce point for the break and took the match 6-4.
Tracy opened singles play with a solid 6-1, 6-3 win over Jacob Bickersteth on court six. That win evened the score at 1-1 but Michigan retook a 3-1 lead with wins on courts two and three.
Kingsley pulled the Buckeyes within one with his 7-6, 6-4 win on court one over No. 14 Andrew Fenty. That was Kingsley’s 15th win on the year against zero losses.
Justin Boulais lost the opening set to Matias Siimar but rebounded to win the second set and force a deciding set. He was up a break at 4-3 but Siimar came back to win the next three games to clinch the team match.
Cash also had his match with Nick Beaty come down to the wire and he won in three set 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
The Buckeyes will remain on the road next weekend for matches at Minnesota and Wisconsin.
