
Ohio State Tops Rutgers, 195.950-194.050

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 24 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team improved to 4-3 on the season with a 195.950-194.050 victory over Rutgers on Sunday at the Rutgers Athletic Center.
The Buckeyes claimed every team event title and tied their season best on vault (48.975).
Individually, four Buckeyes won at least a share three events titles, led by a season-high scores from Elexis Edwards on vault (9.875) and Jenna Swartzentruber on beam (9.850).
“We faced a lot of adversity today and rallied to get another good road score,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “This team continues to fight, improve and build confidence every week.”
The Buckeyes started the day on the bars where Colby Miller won the event with a 9.850. Edwards and Swartzentruber tied for second, both scoring 9.825s. Edwards’ mark was a career high.
Ohio State took the momentum from their success on bars on to the next rotation, which was the vault. Edwards’ score of 9.875 not only won the event, it was also a season high. Morgan Lowe and Nicole Riccardi were part of a three-way tie for second place with Rutgers’ Bella Huang with scores of 9.800. For Riccardi, her score tied a career high and for Lowe it matched her best season mark.
On floor, a trio of Buckeyes tied for third with scores of 9.850 – Edwards, Ella Hodges and Claire Gagliardi. Edwards’ mark set a new career high for her in the event while Hodges tied her season high.
The final event of the day was beam, where Swartzentruber and Emma Pritchard were part of a four-way tie for first place with scores of 9.850. Pritchard’s mark represented a career high while Swartzentruber established her season high in the event. Pritchard and Swartzentruber shared the crown with Rutgers’ Keira Doherty-Herwitz and Hannah Joyner.
The Buckeyes are back in action next Sunday, Feb. 21, when they travel to State College, Pa. to face Penn State at 2 p.m.
