COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 8 Ohio State took a pair of matches from Michigan State on Saturday, winning 7-0 in the first match and 4-0 in the second match.
The Buckeyes did not drop a set all day. The teams played out all six singles matches in the first match and played to clinch in the afternoon.
Cannon Kingsley picked-up a pair of singles victories, winning 6-0, 6-1 in match one and 6-4, 6-3 in match two. Tim Seibert and Andrew Lutschaunig both made their season debuts in the second match. Seibert dominated in a 6-0, 6-1 win and Lustchaunig showed some grit coming from down a break to win his first set 7-5.
In doubles, James Trotter and Justin Boulais teamed to win both of their matches.
Overall, the Buckeyes had a good day.
These matches go in the book as non-conference matches as the teams' used their final flex day to schedule the duals. Ohio State will officially open Big Ten play next weekend with a pair of tough road matches at Northwestern and Illinois. Those will be the first of 16 Big Ten matches this season.
