The Ohio State men’s hockey team has a bye this weekend before returning to action with a home series vs. Michigan State to open Big Ten play.
The Buckeyes and Spartans will meet at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 (note this time has changed from earlier announcements) and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

So Far This Season
Ohio State is 3-1 on the year, splitting a series at Bentley with a 2-1 loss and 7-1 victory Oct. 8-9 and a home sweep of UConn last weekend. Against the Huskies, the Buckeyes rallied for a 4-3 overtime win and then posted a 3-0 shutout victory.
Tate Singleton leads the Buckeyes with three goals and five points, while Mason Lohrei has a team-best three assists and is second with four points. Travis Treloar is second with two goals and he and Quinn Preston (1g, 2a) are tied for third with three points each. In all, 17 Buckeyes have at least one point, with 12 posting 12 or more. In goal, Jakub Dobes is 3-0-0, with a .38 goals-against average and .986 save percentage.
As a team (through games of Oct. 21), the Buckeyes are in the Top 5 nationally in faceoff winning percentage (2nd/.617), scoring defense (3rd/1.50), and scoring margin (4th/2.25)
Firsts
Four Buckeyes have scored their first collegiate goals so far this season.
Freshman defenseman Mason Lohrei netted the Buckeyes’ first goal of the season, scoring in the opener at Bentley.
In game two at Bentley, junior defenseman Dominic Vidoli notched his first goal.
In the Buckeyes’ come from behind win over UConn, freshman forwards Cam Thiesing and Georgii Merkulov both scored.
Goalie Jakub Dobes picked up his first career victory at Bentley and his first collegiate shutout against UConn.
