
Outstanding Day for the Buckeyes at Ohio State Open

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing program hosted the OSU Open Saturday in French Field House. The Buckeye women had 13 Top 8 finishers, with freshmen Eva Mazur (epee) and Eleonore Perrier (sabre) and senior Camilla Rivano (foil) all winning gold. For the men, nine Buckeyes placed in the Top 8, with Nolan Williams (sabre) and Henry Lange (epee) finishing first and Nathan Wriedt notching a runner-up finish.
Sunday, Ohio State will host the OSU Duals, welcoming seven teams to French Field House. The day includes five rounds, starting at 9 a.m. Admission and parking are free. Women’s Epee
It was an all-Buckeye affair in the semifinals. Montserrat Viveros topped Talia Weiss, 15-11, with Eva Mazur defeating classmate Karina Dyner, 11-6. In the final, Mazur prevailed over Viveros, 15-12.

Women’s Sabre
Three of four semifinalists were Buckeyes. Eleonore Perrier was a 15-14 winner against her teammate, Zoe Shay-Tannas, and Evie Bustamante won her bout 15-6. In the final, Perrier notched a 15-9 victory.

Men’s Epee
Buckeye Henry Lange claimed the gold medal, while Maxwell Rodney and Bence Bende were semifinalists. Lange defeated Bender, 15-11, in their semifinal matchup and won his final, 15-4.
