No. 14/rv Buckeyes Fall at No. 15 Notre Dame, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 14/rv Ohio State men's hockey team lost game one of a Big Ten series at No. 15 Notre Dame, 3-0, Saturday in Compton Family Ice Arena in Notre Dame, Ind.
The Buckeyes (2-5-0, 2-5-0-0-1-0 B1G) and Irish (4-3-0, 3-2-0-0-0-0 B1G) will wrap up the series at 5 p.m. Sunday, with the game on NBCSN, NBCSports.com, TSN.ca and Ohio State radio.
Notre Dame 3, Ohio State 0 – The Short Story
After a scoreless first that saw just eight shots total on net, Notre Dame opened the scoring in the second. The Irish scored twice in less than three minutes in the third for the 3-0 final. Ohio State was outshot, 28-20, as it was shut out for the second time this season. Each team was 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

"We had a good start and a good push at the beginning. We were exactly where we needed to be to start a game on the road. As the game continued we made some mistakes, and mistakes will cost you against a good team. We have to be better tomorrow night."
Ohio State vs. Notre Dame
In the First … There were no goals in the period and just eight shots on net – five for the Irish and three for the Buckeyes. Each team had an abbreviated power play.
In the Second … The game opened up in the second, with the squads combining for 22 shots on goal. The Irish converted one of their 12 shots, as Graham Slaggert tallied at 9:22 The Buckeyes, who had the only power play of the period, had 10 shots on net.
In the Third … Notre Dame scored twice in 2:05 in the period to extend its lead to 3-0. Michael Graham made it 2-0 at 7:33 and Alex Steeves followed at 9:38. Shots were 11-7 in favor of Notre Dame in the stanza. The Irish had two power plays, Ohio State one.
Shots … Ohio State was outshot, 28-20. Tommy Nappier started and had 19 saves for the Buckeyes, allowing three goals, in 49:38. Ryan Snowden closed out the game and stopped all six shots he faced in 10:22. Irish goalie Dylan St. Cyr had 20 saves in 59:59.
The Buckeyes blocked 13 shots, with Quinn Preston, Grant Gabriele and Travis Treloar each blocking two.
Special Teams … Each team was scoreless on three power play chances. Ohio State allowed just one power play shot in the game.
