Fall Athletes Earn Academic All-Big Ten Accolades

Ohio State Fall 2020 Academic All-Big Ten
COLUMBUS, Ohio — This fall, 120 Ohio State student-athletes received Academic All-Big Ten honors, the Big Ten Conference announced Thursday. In all, 1,601 student-athletes from across the conference were recognized from fall sports, the most since the award was established in 1990.
The 120 honorees is a best for Ohio State, passing the 112 recognized last fall. The sports included are field hockey, football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports, who have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Buckeye football team had 40 honorees, followed by the men’s and women’s soccer teams with 16 each, field hockey with 15, women’s volleyball with 12, men’s cross country with 11 and women’s cross country with 10.
Sophomore Harry Miller of the football team, a pre-mechanical engineering major, and women’s cross country runner Gia Napoleon, a sophomore journalism major, were recognizing for carrying 4.0 grade-point averages.
