COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State swimming and diving program is set to compete in one last dual meet of the season at Pittsburgh this Friday, Jan. 31 before looking ahead to post season. The meet will be observed but not scored in preparation for championship season. The Big Ten-ACC matchup will begin with diving at 1 p.m. while swimming will commence at 5 p.m. at Trees Pool.
Sophomore diver Jacob Fielding earned the Big Ten Diver of the Week honor, conference officials announced Wednesday. It is the third Diver of the Week recognition of the month for the Buckeye men as freshman Lyle Yost earned his first conference honor Jan. 8 and junior Joseph Canova was recognized Jan. 22. At the Shamrock Invitational, Fielding posted two second-place finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard for a combined 34 team points.
As of January 22, the Ohio State men are ranked No. 14 in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Dual Meet Poll while the women come in at No. 7, jumping 11 spots from their previous No. 18 ranking.
MEET SCHEDULE
Swimming will begin at 5 p.m. with races in long course meters. There will be no relays. After a 45 minute break, the pool will be switched over to short course yards and the events will follow the same order with the 400 meter freestyle changing to the 500 yard freestyle.

Last Time Out
The Ohio State swimming and diving program traveled to South Bend, IN to compete in the Shamrock Invitational against Notre Dame, Akron, Iowa and Missouri State. After two days of competition, the Buckeye men finished third overall with 828 points while the women finished second, behind Notre Dame, with 975 points.
In diving, the Buckeye men swept on both the 3-meter and 1-meter boards as Jacob Siler, Jacob Fielding and Lyle Yost went 1-2-3, respectively on 3-meter. On the 1-meter, Joseph Canova placed first, followed by Fielding and Yost. Freshman Mackenzie Crawford was the highest finishing Ohio State women's diver as she finished second on the 3-meter springboard and fourth on the 1-meter.
After the first day of competition, sophomore Amanda Palutsis held the highest finish for the Buckeye women, winning the 50 freestyle, while sophomore Sem Andreis posted a first-place finish for the men in the 50 freestyle. Kathrin Demler had a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 and 400 individual medley events while Paul DeLakis (200 IM), Jason Mathews (100 breast) and Colin McDermott (100 back) finished day one with top swimming individual finishes.
On day two, Taylor Petrak placed third in the 100 freestyle followed by Amy Fulmer in fifth while Sarah Sperber and Josie Panitz earned points in the 200 breaststroke with a second and fifth place finish, respectively. Andreis had another podium finish as he touched second in the 100 freestyle. Mathews and DeLakis went 4-5 in the 200 breaststroke and freshman Thomas Watkins finished off the weekend with a third place finish in the 200 backstroke.
Scouting Pitt
The Panthers are entering Friday's meet after a dominating win over Denison and top finishes by both the men and women at the Western Pennsylvania Invitational. The Pitt men have wins over Michigan State and Denison this season in head-to-head competition while the women have swam to victory over Michigan State, West Virginia and Denison.
At the Invitational, Pitt finished with 31 total victories over the two-day event. The men finished with two victories over Carnegie Mellon and Clarion while the women finished first over Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon, Clarion and St. Francis (PA).
To open the meet against Denison, sophomore diver Amy Read won on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards while freshmen Dylan Reed also recorded a pair of individual victories. By the end of action, seven Pitt swimming had won multiple events, led by freshman Kayla Graham who posted top finishes in the 50 back, 50 fly and 100 IM. Valerie Daigneault (200 free, 100 fly) and Kate Fuhrmann (50 breast, 100 breast) tallied four more individual event wins for the Pitt women. On the men's side, Serhii Ahadzhanian (50 fly, 100 fly), Cooper van der Laan (50 breast, 100 breast) and Blaise Vera (50 free, 100 free) all dominated their specialties while Eben Vorster added two more wins in the 500 free and 100 IM.
