McIlvane Named Head Coach of EC Red Bull Salzburg
Matt McIlvane, who skated for the Buckeyes from 2005-08, was recently named head coach for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the EBEL. He was an assistant coach with the team for one season (2013-14) before moving to EHC Red Bull Munich. In Munich, McIlvane was an assistant coach and part of three straight DEL titles. He also was part of the German staff at the 2018 Olympic Games that led the squad to the silver medal in Pyeongchang. Overall, 2019-20 will be his seventh year coaching in Europe.

Bales Joins Sabres Staff
Mike Bales, who was a Buckeye goalie from 1990-92, was named an assistant coach for the Buffalo Sabres. Bales was part of the staff for two Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins and spent the last two years with the Carolina Hurricanes, serving as the goalie coach for both organizations.

Bartkowski Re-Signs with Wild
Matt Bartkowski, a Buckeye defenseman from 2009-10, re-signed with the Minnesota Wild, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract. In 2018-19, Bartkowski skated in 70 games with the AHL Iowa Wild, with 19 points on four goals and 15 assists. He played one game with the Minnesota Wild last year, scoring a goal.

Fritz Returning to NYI
Tanner Fritz agreed to a two-year contract with the New York Islanders. A Buckeye from 2012-15, he played in 57 AHL games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and eight NHL games with the Islanders in 2018-19. He had a 12-25-37 line for the Sound Tigers last year. He has been with the Islanders organization the last four seasons and has played in 42 NHL contests.

Schilkey Celebrates Calder Cup
Nick Schilkey, a Buckeye from 2014-17, won the AHL Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers this spring.

Blue Jackets Recognize New Ohio State Hall of Famer
RJ Umberger, who played for the Buckeyes from 2001-03 and skated for the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets from 2009-14, is part of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019 and will be inducted this fall.
