WR Parris Campbell Selected in 2nd Round by Indianapolis

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Parris Campbell, the electric Ohio State receiver who caught a school record 90 passes this season and was a two-time team captain, was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Campbell becomes the third Buckeye drafted so far, joining first-round picks Nick Bosa (No. 2 overall to San Francisco) and Dwayne Haskins (No. 15 to Washington).
Campbell, a fifth-year senior who graduated in December with his degree in sociology, is the 18th Buckeye receiver drafted since 2000, a total that is tied with LSU for the most receivers drafted during this time.

Campbell was outstanding for the Buckeyes in 2018. His school-record 90 receptions included 12 touchdown receptions, and he became only the fifth Buckeye to top 1,000 receiving yards in a season with 1,063. A first team All-Big Ten selection, Campbell’s career totals of 143 receptions and 1,768 receiving yards rank seventh and 15th, respectively, in school history. His 15 touchdown receptions ranks 15th all-time at Ohio State.
In the Buckeyes’ biggest game of the season – a 62-39 win over No. 4 Michigan – Campbell had what turned out to be the play of the game. He took a short pass from QB Dwayne Haskins and raced 78 yards up the right sideline to give the Buckeyes a 48-25 lead early in the fourth quarter. Campbell finished the game with six catches for a series-record 192 yards and two TDs.
Campbell also topped 100 yards receiving against Tulane (147) and Indiana (142) and had a career-high 11 catches in his final game – his 48th with 38 starts – as a Buckeye, against Washington in the Rose Bowl.
Campbell, who is from Akron, Ohio and St. Vincent St. Mary High School, was a part of Ohio State teams that won a national championship over No. 2 Oregon in 2014, Big Ten championships in 2014, 2017 and 2018, and bowl games over No. 1 Alabama (in the 2015 Sugar Bowl), No. 8 Notre Dame (2016 Fiesta Bowl), No. 8 USC (2018 Cotton Bowl) and No. 9 Washington (2019 Rose Bowl).

Draft coverage
The draft continues Saturday with rounds 4-7, beginning at noon. ESPN and the NFL Network are televising the entire draft. It is being held downtown in the music city, Nashville, Tenn., on the corner of Broadway and 1st Ave.
