COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Dorka Juhasz scored a season-high 21 points and the Buckeyes shot over 50 percent as a team as they downed visiting Radford 70-57 on Sunday.
The win was the second consecutive win for the Buckeyes, who are 6-3 on the season.
Juhasz set the tone early with 14 of her 21 points coming in the first half. She was 10-of-13 from floor and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Freshman Kierstan Bell had her best shooting game of the season, going 6-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-3 from long range for 15 points. Fellow freshman Jacy Sheldon finished with 10 points and a season-high three assists.
Junior Braxtin Miller has been struggling a bit with her shot, but today she made an impact in a different way, dishing out a game-high six assists with zero turnovers. For the season, she leads the team in assist-to-turnover ratio with 32 assists and just nine turnovers.
Radford remained within striking distance seemingly all game as the Highlanders were a season-best 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) from long range. Radford was shooting just 25.7 percent on the season from beyond the arc coming into the game. Tina Lindenfeld was 5-of-5 from deep to lead the Highlanders.
The Buckeyes also shot the ball well, finishing 27-of-52 for 51.9 percent. This was the third game this season shooting above 50 percent. OSU shot 50 percent or better just three times all of last season.
Ohio State outscored Radford in every quarter and finished strong with 21 points in the fourth. This was also the second consecutive game in which the Buckeyes shot 80 percent or better from the free throw line. That was point of emphasis for head coach Kevin McGuff in the early part of the season.
Next up, Ohio State heads back across the country for a pair of games on the west coast. The Buckeyes will take on No. 1 Stanford next Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET and then Sacramento State on Dec. 17 at 10:05 p.m. ET. Ohio State was supposed to make this trip last November but it was cancelled because of poor air quality due the wildfires in northern California.
