COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ohio State guard D.J. Carton was selected as the Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week Monday by the league office. It is the first honor for the Bettendorf, Iowa, native. The Buckeyes improved to 11-1 on the year following a 71-65 win over No. 6 Kentucky last Saturday in Las Vegas.
Against the Wildcats, Carton led the Buckeyes with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including a 1-of-2 effort from 3-point range. He also made all four foul shots, handed out a couple assists, blocked two shots and recorded one steal in 28 minutes.
Ohio State returns to the court at noon Sunday vs. West Virginia in the Cleveland Classic at Rocket Mortgage Arena.
