Buckeyes roll to win No. 10 at Rutgers

Ohio State secured its eighth-consecutive double-digit win season with a 56-21 victory at Rutgers Saturday in Piscataway. The Buckeyes struck early and often, benefiting from a pair of turnovers by the Scarlet Knights in their first four plays from scrimmage.
QB Justin Fields was efficient throughout the game, completing 15-19 attempts for 305 yards and four touchdowns. Chris Olave led the receiving corps with 139 yards our four grabs, including a 58-yard catch. J.K. Dobbins added two TDs of his own during his 89-yard effort on 17 totes.
The Buckeyes return home next Saturday to face No. 9 Penn State at noon in Ohio Stadium. The game will be aired on FOX.

Ohio State scored touchdowns on its first two possessions on offense and caused two turnovers in the first four plays on defense.
On the second play of the game, Shaun Wade intercepted a Johnny Langan pass and four plays later, J.K. Dobbins ran in from 18 yards out to give Ohio State the initial score of the game. On Rutgers’ next possession, Wade forced a fumble that was recovered by Jordan Fuller, leading to a Justin Fields-to-Binjimen Victor 11-yard touchdown pass.
A 58-yard pass from Fields to Chris Olave highlighted the Buckeyes’ third scoring drive of the quarter and Dobbins found the endzone for the second time on the day. It was Dobbins’ 30th career rushing touchdown.
For the quarter, Ohio State outgained Rutgers 214-85. Fields completed seven of eight passes for 136 yards and a touchdown while Dobbins rushed eight times for 61 yards and two TDs.

K.J. Hill opened the second quarter scoring with 35 yard reception from Fields to complete a five-play, 65-yard drive that gave Ohio State a 28-7 lead. Fields tossed his third TD pass of the half late in the second quarter, finding Victor for a 24-yard score to give the Buckeyes a 35-7 lead.
Fields completed 12 of 15 passes for 241 yards in the first half, his season high for passing yards in a half. He added 30 yards rushing on three carries. Dobbins had a team-high 89 yard rushing as the Buckeyes rolled up 118 yards on the ground over the first 30 minutes.
Two receivers – Hill and Victor – had four catches while Olave finished with 97 yards on three receptions.

Fields’ fourth touchdown pass of the game – a 14 yard toss to Luke Farrell – gave him his first career 300-yard passing day. On the TD drive to open the third quarter, he also found Olave for a 42 yard gain that gave the sophomore wide receiver 139 yards on the day, a new career high.
A K’Vaughan Pope interception set up Ohio State’s second scoring drive of the quarter, a four-yard pass from Chris Chugunov to Jake Hausmann. It was Hausmann’s first career touchdown reception and Pope’s second interception in as many games.
The Buckeyes led 49-14 at the end of the quarter following a late touchdown by Rutgers on a 45 yard pass from Johnny Langan to Bo Melton.
