Kevin Wilson, Offensive Coordinator/ Tight Ends
We’re trying to push these guys to continue to realize that their best is in front of them. There’s a lot of talented players here, a lot of guys are playing very, very well, but they still can be better.
On Justin Fields’ intelligence making an impact:
He’s very, very smart. Coach Meyer would even say previously that you better come prepared for the meetings when you’re coaching certain players. He’s a guy you need to be prepared for because he’s very smart. He’s got a lot of physical skills I think people see. He’s a great kid that has really high intelligence.
Jeff Okudah, CB
On responding to adversity:
I think our team has done a really good job of showing resiliency no matter what happens. Being here for three years we’ve had our fair share of adversity. Just being able to respond positively to anything that we face, I think that’s been big. We’ve always stressed that we need to be able to respond to adversity.
On Garrett Wilson:
I think what stands out about Garrett is his ball skills. Since I’ve been here I haven’t seen anyone that possesses those ball skills and how natural he’s able to locate the ball and high point the ball.
With another off-season with Coach Mick and Coach Hartline and as he starts to mature as a player, he can only get better.
Chris Chugunov, QB
On playing in his home state:
I’m looking forward to it. I think the thing I’m most excited about is I have a large group of family and friends who can’t always make it out here to Ohio for games, so I’m excited to have them there to see me play. We’re going to prepare for Rutgers like we do for everyone else we play each Saturday. I’m definitely looking forward to it.
On why he wanted to keep playing football after graduation:
I love the game. I love playing football. I love throwing the football, too. It’s that simple for me, that feeling of throwing a perfect pass. I’ll play for as long as I can.
DaVon Hamilton, DL
On Zach Harrison’s development:
I think the biggest thing I like about him is he’s willing to learn. He’s been really fun to be around. He really wants to learn and be a part of the unit, that’s probably the best part. Potential wise, the sky is the limit for him. If he really develops the way Coach Johnson is preparing him to, there’s nothing he can’t do.
On being the only player to be graded a champion for every game:
I think a big thing that I was trying to do at the beginning of the season and before the season was to be consistent. It’s just going to help my team out, and it’s been what I’ve been focusing on. So that’s just a measure for me of how consistent I’ve been.
Josh Myers, OL
I love all the guys in our room. Top to bottom we all love each other, and we love spending time together
On Jonah Jackson:
He’s added a ton, more than anything his leadership. He was a captain at Rutgers and there’s a reason for that. He’s a great leader.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste, DL
On getting the opportunity to play more:
We always preach next man up. When it’s my responsibility to go in, I just got to do what I am supposed to do and what I was told during practice
Tyler Friday, DL
I’m just focused on where I’m at right now and being with this family here right now.
On the defensive line:
They’re big leaders on and off the field. To have them around means a lot for us, especially the young guys.
Harry Miller, OL
On getting the opportunity to play as a backup:
It’s been huge. It’s been huge to be able to get in the Shoe and get reps and go against high quality guys and get live reps that have consequences, instead of controlled situations here. It’s a huge opportunity.
