Once again for Ohio State, the second quarter was the story. In fact, for the sixth game in a row the Buckeyes scored at least 21 points in the period in breaking open what was a tight game after the first 15 minutes en route to a 52-3 victory Friday night in Evanston.

Fields finds Olave for Friday’s opening scoreÂ
Fields connected on his second touchdown pass of the night early in the second quarter as he found Dobbins for a 19-yard score. Blake Haubeil’s extra point gave Ohio State a 14-3 lead.
After forcing a punt, Ohio State quickly extended its lead to 21-3 thanks to a five-yard TD run by Dobbins, who set up the score by going 67 yards on the first play of the drive. It was Dobbins’ fourth rush of 50 or more yards this season and his longest of the season.
The Buckeyes converted another two-play drive into a touchdown at the 3:45 mark of the second quarter when Fields found Olave for a nine-yard touchdown. The short field was set up after a botched Northwestern punt that gave the Buckeyes to ball at NU’s 15 yard line.
The first half was punctuated by a 55-yard field goal from Haubeil, which was a career long and the second-longest in Ohio State history.
For the half, Ohio State outgained NU 265-90 and averaged 7.2 yards per play. For the sixth straight game, the Buckeyes scored 21 or more points in the second quarter.
