
Ohio State Competes in Alaska

FAIRBANKS, Ala. – The Ohio State University Rifle Team made the 4000+ mile journey to Fairbanks, Alaska to compete in a pair of matches over the Fall Break weekend.
On Friday the Buckeyes fired a season-best team score of 4658 against the host Nanooks (4660).
In smallbore the team was led by junior Ariel Hall who fired a score of 580. She was followed by the sophomore pair of Annabelle Stanec (577) and Annie Tomb (573) who both fired career-high scores. Seniors Rhiann Travis (568) and Jacob Buchanan (564) rounded out team scoring. Junior Elizabeth Dutton led the way for the individuals with a score of 573 while freshman Katie Ezell (567) and Joel Potts (561) rounded out the individuals.
In air rifle the team fired a score of 2360. Hall fired a career-best score of 596. She was followed by Stanec (591), Buchanan (587), Tomb (586), and Travis (585). Ezell led the way for the individuals firing a personal best score of 591. She was followed by Dutton (586), and Potts (571).

On Saturday Ohio State competed at the Tanana Valley Sportsman’s Association Range against TCU, firing a team score of 4658.
In smallbore the team was again led by Hall who fired a score of 579. Travis fired a 577, Stanec a 573, and Buchanan and Tomb both shot 568 to round out team scoring. Dutton was again the high individual with a score of 572. She was followed by Ezell who fired a personal best 569 and Potts who fired a 558.
In air rifle the team posted their season-best score of 2361 and put together a very balanced performance with Tomb (592), Travis (590), and Hall (590) all posting scores over 590. Buchanan (589), and Stanec (587) rounded out team scoring. Ezell again led the way for the individuals with a score of 585. She was followed closely by Dutton (584) and Potts (571).

“Overall we had a really successful trip to Alaska over Fall Break,” Ryan Tanoue, head coach, said. “From a performance perspective it was a nice step forward for our team, and we will have a great chance to take another step this coming weekend when we welcome the Naval Academy for our first home competition of the season.”
Ohio State returns to action this Sunday, October 20th against Navy.
