
Buckeyes Tied for Fourth after 18 at Tar Heel Invite

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Ohio State women's golf team recorded its best round of the fall season and sits in a tie for fourth after the opening round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Friday at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. Wake Forest carded a 6-under 282 followed by Kentucky and Alabama in a tie for second after a 5-under 283 and the Buckeyes and host North Carolina tied for fourth after a 4-under 284.
Buckeye sophomore Aneka Seumanutafa leads the 96-competitor field by three strokes after carding seven birdies against one bogey for a 6-under 66 in the opening round. The round is the best of the season and second best of Seumanutafa's career after posting six rounds in the 60's a year ago.

Fellow sophomore Skylar Thompson is tied for 24th at even-par while senior Adeena Shears, junior Yukie Sasaki and sophomore Lauren Peter round out the Buckeye lineup in a tie for 35th at 1-over. Freshman Kristin Jamieson, playing as an individual, is tied for 95th at 9-over after the opening round.
As a team, the Buckeyes are tied for third in par-4 scoring at even-par and par-5 scoring at 5-under. The Buckeyes' 18 birdies are fourth-most in the field. Individually, Seumanutafa is tied for second in par-3 scoring at 2-under and tied for third in par-4 scoring at 2-under and par-5 scoring at 2-under. Sasaki also is tied for third in par-5 scoring at 2-under while Seumanutafa's seven birdies are tied for the most in the field.
