• The first time the name Cornhuskers was applied to Nebraska was in 1899, when Nebraska State Journal writer Cy Sherman, who would later help originate the AP Poll, began referring to Nebraska’s football team as the Cornhuskers. The next year, the nickname was officially adopted by the school.

• Ohio State and Nebraska are two of the top-five winningest programs in college football history. They’ve combined for 1,800 wins, 13 national titles and 10 Heisman Trophies.
• Dwayne Haskins’ 30 TD passes is tied with 2006 Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith for third-most in single season history. The record is 35, set in 2017 by J.T. Barrett.
• The Buckeyes are 5-0 under head coach Urban Meyer following a regular season loss and have won those five
games by an average of 35.0 points per game.
• Since Urban Meyer’s arrival in 2012, the Buckeyes have one of the top rushing attacks in all of college football – both by total yards and yards per carry average. The Buckeyes lead all Power 5 teams with a 5.7 yards per carry average in 89 games and its 22,350 total rushing yards is No. 2 among Power 5 teams.
