COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seven different Ohio State receivers caught touchdown passes and the Buckeyes threw for a school-record 474 yards as they rolled to a 54-21 victory over UNLV on a hot September afternoon in Ohio Stadium.

The seven receivers catching TD passes was also an OSU single-game record, breaking the old mark of five which was set four times previously. In all, 13 Buckeyes caught passes on the day for a record 474 yards. That total surpassed the 459 yards at Penn State in 1997.

Three Buckeye quarterbacks combined to set the mark as J.T. Barrett completed 12-of-17 passes for 209 yards and five touchdowns. Freshman Dwayne Haskins didn’t miss a beat when he stepped in late in the second quarter as he finished the day 15-of-23 for 228 yards and two scores. Sophomore Joe Burrow completed the Buckeye QB quartet as he completed all four passes he threw for 37 yards on the game’s final drive.

C.J. Saunders and Parris Campbell each had 100-yard receiving games. Saunders had career highs of six catches for 102 yards and a score while Campbell notched 105 yards on just three catches. Campbell’s 35 yards per catch is the most by a Buckeye in a game since 1996. Defensively, the Buckeyes had 13 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two interceptions. That was the most tackles for loss by the Buckeyes in a game since also notching 13 against Michigan in 2008. Nick Bosa led the way with four total tackles, three tackles for loss, including a sack, and a pass breakup.

Two plays into the game and Campbell found himself in the endzone. He took a swing pass and went 69 yards for a score. The second OSU drive ended with the same result as Barrett was 4-of-5 passing and found Johnny Dixon for a 16-yard touchdown pass. Dre’Mont Jones then took down UNLV’s Lexington Thomas in the endzone for the Buckeyes’ first safety of the year and the hosts led 16-0 at the end of one. Campbell registered all 187 of his all-purpose yards in the opening quarter.

On the first play of the second quarter, Binjimen Victor caught his second touchdown pass of the season to put the Buckeyes in front 23-0. The next two Ohio State touchdowns were set up by interceptions from Damon Arnette and Damon Webb. Barrett hit McLaurin for a 4-yard strike on a fourth down play and then hit K.J. Hill in the flat for an 11-yard TD and it was 37-0.

The Rebels got on the board as they capitalized on an OSU penalty on fourth down and Thomas would punch it in from two yards for their first TD of the day. The sixth Buckeye touchdown of the first half came by way of a Haskins 28-yard strike to Saunders.

After another score from Thomas on a long run, Sean Nuernberger connected on a 30-yard field goal to put the Buckeyes in front 47-14 with 5:36 left in the third quarter.

Rashod Berry made a nice catch, broke a couple of tackles and went 38 yards for the first touchdown of his career and UNLV’s Javin White capped the scoring with a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
