COLUMBUS, Ohio –
The Ohio State Synchronized Swimming team swept the competition for the second year in a row at the US Collegiate North Regional Championship as they successfully defended their title. Taking the top spot in every category pushed the Scarlet and Grey over the top to win the meet.
Lorraine Hoying, Alyssa Hack, and Monica Velazquez-Stiak had a dazzling performance to win the trio competition as they scored 80.9666. Followed shortly thereafter with the runner-up routine by Emma Baranski, Elizabeth Davidson, and Morgan Boneberg which scored 78.7777.
The dynamic duos of Hack and Hoying (82.3333) along with Baranski and Davidson (81.4444) claimed first and second place, respectively.
Baranski dived into the pool one more time in the solo competition. After giving her all in a heartfelt performance she won the regional title for the third year in a row with a score of 82.6666.
Both team Scarlet and Gray excited the crowd in their performances as they took first and third place. Team Scarlet included Boneberg, Davidson, Deng, Hack, Hoying, St. John, Thielemann, Velazquez-Stiak (83.1333 . Grey Squad featured Aton, Baron, Coffin, Giannuzzi, House, Huibregtse, Pulido, Walsh (80.1111).
The stage is set for the Buckeyes to swim in the US Collegiate National Championship March 23-25 as they seek to capture another National title. The competition will be held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on campus.
