COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes were back in the McCorkle Aquatic Center for the 2nd day of competition and they punched two tickets to the team finals competition and dominated the Technical Event with Emma Baranski winning her second National Title.
Both of Ohio State’s team entries blew away the crowd and were granted another chance to wow the judges in the team finals tomorrow. The Scarlet squad posted one of the top scores of the day with an 84.9000 and featured Morgan Boneberg, Elizabeth Davidson, Wenjeng Deng, Lorrain Hack, Alyssa Hoying, Noelle St. John, Stephanie Thielemann, and Monica Velazquez-Stiak. The Gray team held their own as they posted an 82.2667. That squad featured Alexa Aton, Tori Baron, Phoebe Coffin, Jessica Giannuzzi, Sarah House, Natalie Huibregste, Jasmine Pulido, and Lizzie Walsh.
The Buckeyes had a lot to celebrate this morning as Emma Baranski earned the title of US Collegiate Technical Event National Champion (82.2313). Baranski was in good company on the awards podium with Buckeyes taking the top four spots in the event with Monica Velazquez-Stiak, Elizabeth Davidson, and Wenjeng Deng. When all the results were in, the Scarlet and Grey placed eight in the top 10 of the event.
All of the work the last two days will culminate in Saturday’s finals. Solo, duet, trio and team finals will all be contested on what should be a thrilling day of swimming.
