COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team went on the road for the first time this season and won a pair of meets in Virginia. On Saturday, the Buckeyes scored 79 points and topped Richmond and on Sunday, OSU posted a season-high 101 points and bested William & Mary.
In the duet competition over the weekend, Alexa Aton and Jessica Giannuzzi earned scores of 75.5333 at Richmond and 77.6333 to take first at both meets.
The trio of Tori Baron, Sarah House and Natalie Huibregtse also took first at both competitions with scores of 76.0000 and 76.7333. Phoebe Coffin, Jasmine Pulido and Lizzie Walsh scored 74.8333 at both meets and finished second.
In the team competition, the group of Aton, Baron, Coffin, Giannuzzi, House, Huibregtse, Pulido, Walsh posted similar scores of 81.8333 and 81.9333 en route to taking first both days. The team of Kaitlyn Carboun, Elizabeth Hernandez, Caroline Jimenez, Breanna Malone, Shea Ramsey, Lane Starrett, Rachel Warren and Lizzie Welzien had a nice performance at Richmond, scoring a season-best 80.4333 followed by a score of 78.8333 on Sunday.
The team only competed in the technical competitions on Sunday with Walsh winning the A Figures with a score of 75.5140 and Malone winning the B Figures for the second time this season with a score of 71.1607.
Next weekend, some of the Buckeyes head west for a pair of competitions with Stanford and some of them will head north to compete at Michigan.
