Columbus, Ohio – Sean Melton has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for his outstanding performance at last weekend’s dual meet win against Penn State. Melton is receiving this honor for the seventh time in his illustrious career.
Melton had the best weekend of his season thus far on Saturday to help propel the Buckeyes to victory. He started the meet on pommel horse with a readout of 14.700 to place second in that event.
He then progressed to the floor where he registered the highest score in the nation with a routine of 15.050. His score of 15.050 also ranks fifth in Ohio State program history.
He closed out the meet with another win on the rings (14.750), and a fourth-place showing on the high bar (13.650).
Ohio State has now claimed four B1G Gymnast of the Week honors through five weeks of the season.
Melton, along with fellow teammate Alec Yoder, will compete in the Winter Cup this weekend in Las Vegas.
