Buckeyes Make Big Moves on Day Two of NCAA Stanford Regional – Ohio State Buckeyes

STANFORD, Calif. – The Ohio State University women’s golf team exchanged a share of 10th place after Round One of the NCAA Stanford Regional for dibs on third place (tied with No. 15 Virginia) entering Saturday’s final round. The Buckeyes carded a 1-over 285 in the second round to leap seven slots in the team standings.
Ohio State’s 285 is the third-lowest round of the event thus far and 14 strokes lower than an opening round 299. With 18 holes to play, the Buckeyes own an 8-stroke upper hand on seventh-place Michigan State (+24). The top-6 teams advance to the NCAA Championships (May 20-25) contested at the Eugene Country Club in Oregon. Ohio State’s 27 total birdies rank second in the event.
Jessica Porvasnik led the Round Two charge, firing a 2-under 69 to launch herself upward 38 spots on the individual leaderboard into a piece of 14th place (76-69; +3). Rio Watanabe is the top Buckeye performer overall, however, tied for 8th in the 96-player field. Watanabe is 1-over following scores of 71-72. Niki Schroeder was Ohio State’s biggest mover on Friday, rebounding from a first round 78 by dipping under par at 70 in her second crack at the Stanford University Golf Course, ascending into a group locked at 6-over (T-30th; tied for 75th at start of the day).
Jaclyn Lee trimmed a stroke between rounds, posting subsequent sums of 75-74. At 7-over (149), Lee remains in the upper half tied for 39th. Katja Pogacar matched Lee’s 74 in the second round and is tied for 53rd overall (77-74).
