Melton Earns Bronze on Parallel Bars at Osijek Cup – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – U.S. Senior National Team member and Ohio State redshirt sophomore Sean Melton earned a bronze medal on parallel bars for Team USA at the Osijek World Challenge Cup in Osijek, Croatia, Sunday.
Melton, the NCAA-record holder in the event, used a score of 14.875 to take third place behind gold medalist Emin Garibov of Russia (15.750) and silver medalist Manrique Larduet of Cuba (15.475). The bronze medal is the first international medal for Melton since he received bronze in the all-around at the 2014 Pan American Championships.
The Buckeye sophomore also competed on rings for Team USA, finishing seventh overall with a score of 14.650.
Melton was one of three U.S. gymnasts to compete at the event, along with 2015 World team member Paul Ruggeri and 2013 World floor exercise silver medalist Steven Legendre.
