BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 5 Ohio State men’s tennis team recorded its sixth-straight sweep to open Big Ten play with a 4-0 win over Indiana Friday evening in Bloomington.
Ohio State raced out of the gate and won the doubles point for the sixth-straight match. OSU got 6-3 victories at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to take the point.
In singles, Herkko Pollanen set the tone with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Antonio Cembellin at No. 4. He was followed by Ralf Steinbach’s 22nd singles win of the year as he topped Elliott Yee 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 to push the score to 3-0.
Senior Chris Diaz recorded the clinching victory as he beat Daniel Bednarczyk at 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2. Mikael Torpegaard split the first two sets at No. 1 while Hugo Di Feo and Martin Joyce were also on their way to singles victories when the match was clinched.
The Buckeyes will look for their seventh-straight Big Ten victory on Sunday when they play at Purdue. The match is scheduled to start at Noon ET.
