NAPA, Calif. – For third time in the last four tournaments, Ohio State Women’s Golf finished inside the top-5. The most recent stellar showing came at the 18-team Silverado Showdown, closing out the event with back-to-back team totals of 292 to jump two slots in each of the last two rounds.
Jaclyn Lee fired a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to pace the Buckeyes and grab a share of 18th place overall on the individual leaderboard. Katja Pogacar finished a stroke back from Lee and tied for 23rd place. She posted scores of 75-72-75. The remaining three Buckeyes earned earned pieces of 31st place as the entire squad finished in the upper-third of the 93-player competition.
Lee birdied the first hole of the day, a sign of what was to come for the freshman from Alberta. She dug another stroke deeper into sub-par territory, concluding the day at minus-2 (70). It marks her third top-20 effort in the last four tournaments and second time as the top Buckeye performer.
Pogacar continued her streak of ranking in the top half of all five tournaments during the Spring semester. Despite a triple bogey on the last hole of the day, Pogacar had built enough of a cushion to withstand and still notch her 18th career top-25 placement.
Lee wasn’t the only frosh to make up some serious ground on Tuesday. Niki Schroeder shot even par to climb 17 slots up into the group locked in at 31st place.
