COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Ohio State golfers can be found inside the top-15 after Day One of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, paced by Jessica Porvasnik’s 36-hole total of 145 (+1) to earn a share of fourth place individually. As a team, the Buckeyes (+15) will enter Round 3 in third place – five strokes back from second-place Indiana (+10).
Porvasnik and 73 additional competitors are all attempting to chase down the 2015 event champion Josee Doyon from Kent State. Doyon is scorching the Scarlet Course for the second straight year, clearing the field by three strokes on Saturday after matching the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational scoring record to claim last year’s medalist honors (4-under 212 tied with Ohio State’s Rachel Rohanna in 2012). Thus far in 2016, the Golden Flash is 6-under (138) in her title defense. Porvasnik trails by seven shots despite racking up 27 pars, tied for the second-highest total in the field.
Joining Porvasnik towards the top of the individual leaderboard as shareholders of 14th place are Katja Pogacar, Niki Schroeder and Rio Watanabe. Pogacar and Watanabe each posted scores of 74-75 while Schroeder came to the same conclusion via the opposite route of 75-74. Each member of the Buckeye trio is 5-over (149) with 36 holes in the books. The highlight of the day came from Schroeder as she holed out from 88 yards to eagle Hole #12. It is one of just two eagles recorded in the entire tournament thus far.

Jaclyn Lee rebounded from an opening-round 81 and contributed a 74 to the team tally in her second trip around the course. For the day, Lee climbed into the leaderboard upper half in a tie for 33rd place. Lina Aguillon settled in right next to Lee at 11-over. Playing as an individual, Aguillon carded rounds of 77-78 to seize her piece off 33rd. Zoe-Beth Brake rounds out the OSU lineup, tied for 57th place with a total of 162 (+18).
