Pogacar Earns Runner-up Honors at Gator Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Katja Pogacar accumulated a three-round total of 213 (+3) at the 2016 Gator Invitational, good for second place in the 75-player field. Pogacar’s runner-up effort propelled the Buckeyes into third place of the team standings, marking Ohio State’s second straight top-3 showing (also placed second at the Westbrook Spring Invitational; Feb. 21-22).
Pogacar now owns five career top-5 performances and captures her first runner-up accolade since tying for second at the 2015 Big Ten Championships. The junior from Slovenia bested 14 of Golfstat’s top-100 players down in the Sunshine State. Her tournament ranking in total pars (40), Par 4 scoring (+3) and Par 5 scoring (-2) all matched her overall finish of second-best.
Jaclyn Lee joined Pogacar as a three-time contributor to the team tally and inside the individual leaderboard top-10 (tied for 10th). Lee continued her stellar play from a T-9th finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. She utilized eight birdies — tied for fourth most in the event — to post consistent scores of 72-72-73 (+7).
Jessica Porvasnik came in as Ohio State’s next highest competitor with a share of 16th place. She carded rounds of 71-73-76 (+10) to pick up her 19th career top-25 outcome. Fellow northeast Ohioan, Niki Schroeder, aided the Buckeyes’ third-place standing as well, chipping in scores of 77-77-74 (+18) to grab a piece of 43rd place.
Zoe-Beth Brake ended on a high note as one of three Buckeyes to register 74s on the final day, lifting the team up into the top-3. Lina Aguillon also donned the Scarlet & Gray in Gainesville, tallying rounds of 76-80-83.
