
Porvasnik Crashes Top-10 Two Rounds into Windy City Collegiate

GOLF, Ill. — Jessica Porvasnik fired a 69 for the third consecutive round, opening the Windy City Collegiate at 3-under following back-to-back 69s during the East & West Match Play Challenge stroke play qualifying rounds. She then slid slightly above par for the first time, posting a 1-over 73 in Round Two in the Chicago suburb. For the day, Porvasnik tied for eighth place overall (-2) in the 78-player field.
Through four rounds of her senior campaign, Porvasnik is 8-under averaging 70.00 strokes per round. She claimed stroke play medalist honors and won both individual matches in the season-opening East & West Match Play Challenge (Sept. 18-20).
Sophomores Jaclyn Lee and Niki Schroeder were next two best Buckeye performers on Monday (Oct. 3). Lee utilized 28 pars, tied for third-most in the event, to seize a piece of 32nd place at 3-over (74-73). Schroeder recorded similar tallies, penciling in subsequent scores of 75-73 (+4). The Avon Lake, Ohio, native dropped in one of two eagles in the tournament, conquering the 503-yard, Par-5 13th hole.
Katja Pogacar, playing as an individual after returning to collegiate golf following her play in the World Amateur Team Golf Championship, is tied for 46th place overall. The senior Buckeye got off to a great start at 1-under (71) in the first before coming back at 6-over (78) in the second trip around the course.
Alex Wright put forth two ledgers contributing to the team tally, finishing 8-over with rounds of 74-78 (+8). Rio Watanabe is in the OSU lineup as well, going 11-over (75-80) on the day.
