
Ohio State Keeps Pace on Day Two, Remains One Back

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 23 Ohio State University women’s golf team maintained contention for the Tar Heel Invitational title on Day Two of the three-day event. Ohio State is 6-under (283-287) through 36 holes and a lone stroke back from co-leaders No. 1 Alabama and No. 21 Wake Forest. The Buckeyes are in front of five fellow Top-25 teams in the 17-team competition.
Niki Schroeder followed her opening round 68 with an even-par 72 in round number two. Her 4-under overall total is good for a share of third place on the 96-player individual leaderboard. Jessica Porvasnik is hot on her tracks, posting scores of 70-71 (-3) to place T-5th entering Sunday’s final round.
Katja Pogacar and Jaclyn Lee each contributed to the team tally on Saturday as well. Pogacar has registered identical tallies of 72, slotting her 13th individually. Lee was also responsible for a second-round 72, adding it to her Day One 74 for a Top-25 (T-23rd) standing.
As a team, the precise Buckeyes are 7-under on Par 3’s – six shots better than the next best. Pogacar leads the tournament, locking in for a 4-under aggregate score on Par 3’s. Ohio State’s 33 birdies are also tops in the tourney, clearing the closest competitor by four birdies. The birdie-fest has come from all angles as Schroeder paces the team with eight birdies while Lee, Pogacar and Porvasnik each have posted seven birdies.

The Scarlet and Gray look to grab a bit of hardware in the final round, playing in the top group alongside Alabama and Wake Forest. Competition is set to resume at 9:15 a.m. with a shotgun start.
