Ohio State Remains Steady to Finish Fourth in Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship – Ohio State Buckeyes

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Four Buckeyes placed inside the top-25 individually at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship as the team finished fourth in the 14-team competition. All six Buckeyes competing concluded the day in the upper half of the 78-player field.
Freshman Niki Schroeder was the top Buckeye, going 4-over (217) to tie for 13th place. She shined on the Par 5’s, shooting six under par on such holes as the tournament’s best Par 5 performer. Schroeder opened with a 1-under 70 in round number one followed by 75-72. Rio Watanabe came up one shot back from Schroeder, tying for 16th place at 5-over (218). She rattled off scores of 72-70-76.
Junior classmates, Katja Pogacar and Jessica Porvasnik, climbed into the top-25 as well. Both tied for 24th at 7-over (220) and contributed to the team tally in all three rounds. Pogacar flashed little variance, registering subsequent scores of 74-73-73 while Porvasnik’s ebbs and flows were minimal as well (73-72-75).
Jaclyn Lee seized a share of 38th place in her collegiate debut. Her second-round 68 was one of just 17 rounds in the 60s recorded in the entire event. She bookended the 3-under dip with a 79 and 77 in the first and third rounds, respectively. Zoe-Beth Brake matched Lee’s 224 total by posting tallies of 71-77-76 (+11).
The Buckeyes cleared No. 22 Florida (+21) by five strokes and No. 23 UNLV by 18 (+34).
