Complete Team Effort Places Buckeyes in Fourth After Day One – Ohio State Buckeyes

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – All five members of the Buckeye lineup are slotted in the top-half of the 78-player field after Day One of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Ohio State ranks fourth in the team standings with tallies of 289-283 (572; +4) through the first 36 holes.
Rio Watanabe finished as the top Buckeye on Monday, sitting 12th overall with scores of 72-70 (E). She and Niki Schroeder each sunk an eagle, two of just 12 recorded on the day. Both Buckeyes also went 4-under on the Par 5’s, tied for the second-best rate in the field. Schroeder’s efforts earned her a share of 17th place individually. Fellow Northeast Ohioan, Jessica Porvasnik, stands right next to Schroeder at 3-over and also tied for 17th. Porvasnik posted rounds of 73-72 while Schroeder came in at 70-75.
Jaclyn Lee matched Watanabe’s six birdies for the team high. Lee dropped down to a 3-under 68 in her second trip around the course following an opening-round 79. Her 147 two-round total (+5) is good for a piece of 28th place. Katja Pogacar also arrived at 5-over and tied for 28th. She contributed to the team tally in both rounds, carding scores of 74-73.
In addition, Zoe-Beth Brake is representing the Scarlet & Gray playing as an individual. The New Zealand native opened at even par (71) in the first round before registering a 77 in round number two. At 6-over (148), Brake is tied for 37th entering Tuesday’s final round.
