Dear Buckeye Nation:
We are immensely proud our 2015-16 Buckeyes are the first team in history to be voted unanimous No. 1 in the preseason college football polls.
Our student-athletes, under the direction of the finest coaching staff in America, have worked hard since their magnificent championship run to position themselves to achieve lofty goals this season.
With achievements come expectations; with expectations come opportunities. The success of our football program has focused the national spotlight on Columbus, Ohio.
Combined with the recent high profile special events which were a huge success – the Rolling Stones, Buckeye Country Superfest, and NCAA Basketball Second and Third Rounds, among others – the university and its many partners throughout the city have created new opportunities for Columbus to shine!
More than ever before, both the national media and out-of-state fans are traveling to Columbus. Out-of-state visitors will be booking hotels, renting cars, hiring cabs, enjoying Columbus’ many fine restaurants, bars and nightlife, and attending games in iconic Ohio Stadium.
This fall, we have a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate to people across the nation that we have the finest team in the land and we have THE BEST FANS IN THE LAND!
Our fans have earned a reputation for cheering wildly for the home team, while showing courtesy for our opponents and their fans. We are passionate about competing, but respectful of the competition. We honor the game and its players when we treat our guests as we’d like to be treated.
The spirit in the ‘Shoe is second to none; the roar of the fans inspires our players and coaches, and energizes our entire community.
Thank you for making Ohio Stadium a special place where the nation’s finest young student-athletes dream of playing football each Saturday in the fall. And thank you in advance for welcoming our visitors with warm, gracious, Columbus hospitality.
GO BUCKS,
Gene Smith
Vice President and Athletics Director
