Buckeye Student-Athletes Set to Graduate Sunday – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Sunday, 164 current and former Ohio State student-athletes will receive their degrees at spring semester commencement at Ohio Stadium. Archie Griffin, two-time winner of the Heisman Trophy and president and CEO of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, will deliver the commencement speech. Among the graduates are national champions, Big Ten Medal of Honor winners and All-Americans.
Logan Stieber is a four-time NCAA champion and four-time Big Ten champion, as well as the 2015 Hodge Trophy recipient, given to the nation’s top collegiate wrestler. A native of Monroeville, Ohio, Stieber led the Ohio State wrestling team to the program’s first NCAA title as a senior in 2015, when he became just the fourth Division I wrestler (the first from the Big Ten) to win four NCAA championships in a career. He had a career record of 119-3 and won his last 50 collegiate matches.
Katie Borchers, from Russia, Ohio, is the reigning Big Ten 800-meter champion and a four-event school record holder on the track, as well as the only two-time cross country All-American in school history. Borchers is a Big Ten Medal of Honor winner, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Capital One Academic All-District selection, four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and four time-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
Ohio State’s other 2015 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient, Kevin Metka, is a five-time OSU Scholar Athlete and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree from the men’s tennis team. He finished runner-up at the NCAA doubles championship last year and was a doubles All-American. Hailing from Worthington, Ohio, Metka is just the 12th Buckeye to win more than 100 doubles matches in his career.
Chloe Meyer, a native of West Chester, Ohio, is a two-time NCAA champion as a member of the second varsity eight and first varsity four rowing contingents, as well as a three-time Big Ten champion. A former walk-on to the two-time defending national champion women’s rowing team, Meyer now rows as a member of the Buckeyes’ first varsity eight boat. She is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and four-time Ohio State Scholar Athlete.
Heidi Liou, from Chandler, Ariz., was the winner of the 2015 US Synchro Athlete of the Year, which goes to the student-athlete that shows tremendous character, commitment, sportsmanship, academic and athletic achievements. Liou will graduate with a degree in fashion & retail studies and already has a job working with Macy’s in New York. She interned with the company last summer and helped develop and present a business expansion strategy aligned with Macy’s initiatives to top executives.
Joe Totts, from Mogadore, Ohio, was a member of the 2014 national champion pistol team. A seven-time All-American, Totts claimed two individual championships at the 2014 Pistol Intercollegiate National Championships, shooting a 1,613 to win the title in three-gun aggregate competition and tallying a 556 score in standard pistol for first. Also earning the standard pistol title in 2013, Totts finished his career as a three-time individual champion.
