RALEIGH, N.C. – On the strength of top-15 efforts by second-year players Katja Pogacar, Jessica Porvasnik and Rio Watanabe, Ohio State ascended to third place after Day One at the NCAA Raleigh Regional. Pogacar led the charge, burrowing one shot under par (71) to earn a share of fifth place individually overall in the 96-player field.
Ohio State is four shots back from tournament-leading LSU, and more importantly owns a four-stroke edge over seventh place as the top-6 teams advance to the NCAA Championships.

Pogacar was 2-under at the turn with a pair of birdies flanked with seven pars. She added another birdie on the Front 9 (Ohio State started on Hole #10) between two bogeys.
Porvasnik is back a lone shot at even par (72), good for a piece of ninth place. She was steady as can be, breaking even on both the Front and Back 9s. Watanabe follows closely behind tied for 14th, posting a 1-over 73. The redshirt freshman took the opposite route of Pogacar, shooting 2-over on the Back 9 before rebounding with a 1-under 35 on the Front 9.
