Athletes of the Week
Timothy Faust, track and field
- Faust won the second Big Ten 200-meter title of his career on the final day of the 2015 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Faust edged DJ Zahn of Illinois at the wire to win in a personal-best time of 20.34 seconds, the No. 3 time in the OSU indoor record book and the ninth-fastest time in Division I this season. He also added a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash and helped the 4×100-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish.
Aisha Cavin, track and field
- Cavin claimed two conference titles at the 2015 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She sprinted to a new school-record time of 22.86 seconds and first place in the 200-meter dash, as well as anchored the 4×400-meter relay team to victory. She also added a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash to her haul.
The Women’s Rowing Team
- Ohio State won its third-consecutive Big Ten title at the 2015 Big Ten Rowing Championships Sunday morning at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes won six of seven finals on their way to a championship-record 186 points.
General Athletics News
- Nine Ohio State student-athletes and three full-time staff members traveled to Costa Rica as a part of a volunteer trip with the Soles 4 Souls organization. This Student-Athlete Support Service Office (SASSO) inspired trip invites student-athletes to actively engage in helping provide footwear to those in need. No. 1 Women’s Rowing
- With its dominating victory, Ohio State became the first team in conference history to win three-consecutive Big Ten titles and now leads all schools with six conference crowns all-time after claiming its fourth title in five seasons.
- The Buckeyes’ first varsity right earned their third-consecutive Big Ten title. The 1V8 is 69-0 overall — 24-0 in races — since the start of the 2014 season, including 35-0 overall and 12-0 in races so far in 2015.
- Buckeyes Ashley Bauer, Catherine Shields and Holly Norton received First Team All-Big Ten recognition, while Sarah Davis and Aina Cid Centelles were Second Team All-Big Ten recipients. Anna Ralph was Ohio State’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Track & Field
- Women – The Buckeye women’s track and field team collected three gold medals at the 2015 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on its way to a fourth-place finish.
- Cavin and Katie Borchers claimed Big Ten titles in the 200-meter dash and 800-meter run, respectively. Cavin was joined by SoSo Walker, Aaliyah Barnes and Beatrice Hannan for a first-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay event.
- Men – Ohio State placed fourth as a team with 78 points at the 2015 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ralph Young Field.
- Ohio State collected a total of seven medals on the final day of competition — one gold, three silver and three bronze. The team closed the meet with nine medals total, as senior Jackson Neff and freshman Zack Bazile won bronze medals on Saturday.
Men’s Golf
- Sophomores Addison Coll and Clark Engle both secured top-5 individual performances at the NCAA New Haven Regional, highlighted by Coll’s final round 64. The 6-under effort earned Coll a spot in a two-man playoff to punch a ticket into the NCAA championships.
Baseball (35-18, 13-11 B1G)
- The baseball team finished off midweek action with a 7-0 shutout win over Youngstown State Tuesday night at Eastwood Field. With the victory, the Buckeyes conclude their midweek games with a perfect 12-0 record and a 6-0 mark vs. in-state schools.
- The No. 7 seed Ohio State baseball team takes on No. 2 seed Iowa at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday in the second game of the 2015 Big Ten Tournament at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn.
