COLUMBUS, Ohio — After two rounds of action Saturday on a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio State women’s golf team will enter the final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational in second place. Senior Jan Chanpalangsri, freshman Rio Watanabe and sophomore Katja Pogacar all finished in the Top-10 individually after 36 holes of play to lead the Buckeyes in a two-round total of a 588 (+12) on the par-72, 6,268-yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State Golf Club.
The final round is slated to start at 8 a.m. Sunday (April 19) with a shotgun start. The Buckeyes are in pursuit of their 100th program title and the 45th overall title under head coach Therese Hession. Ohio State captured the 2014 edition of the Lady Buckeye Invitational with a 28-over 892 to earn the program’s 15th title in the 34 years of the event.
Chanpalangsri and Watanabe are tied for sixth place with a two-round total of 3-over 147. Chanpalangsri carded a team-low score of 71 in the second round to move up the leaderboard after a first round score of 76, while Watanabe notched a 75 and 72 in the first two rounds.
Pogacar, who tied for third in last year’s event to earn her first career Top-5 finish, tallied a 4-over 148 with scores of 73 and 75 and is tied for ninth.
Sophomore Jessica Porvasnik tied for 14th with a two-round total of 5-over 149 with scores of 74 and 75. Senior Claudia Lim notched a team-high six birdies to score a 72 in the second round, tying for 18th at 6-over 150.
Competing as an individual, redshirt sophomore Zoe-Beth Brake posted a 10-over 154, and junior Lina Aguillon rounded out the Buckeye lineup with a 22-over 162. Kent State leads the field with a two round total of 9-over 585. Kent State’s Josee Doyon is first on the player leaderboard with a 2-under 140.
